Working with director Harry Butt at Blink Ink on a music video for Tame Impala’s “Breathe Deeper” from the 2020 album “The Slow Rush” was an incredibly rewarding creative and technical experience. A really small team of us made this happen, we put a lot of passion and energy into creating this video, we hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it.
I worked across the majority of the shots in some form or another but the main areas I focused on were the world design and animation of the opening, cave and nymph growth, nymph transformation and flight animation through to dragonfly POV performance animation, the design and animation of the rock section to the beach and the particles leading the dragonfly. I also built the character rigs for the team to implement into their shots, as well as fixing general technical problems for 3D.
I used a lot of different software on this project, including Zbrush, Substance Painter which is one of the first commercial projects I’ve used them in to a significant degree, everything was brought into Cinema 4D and rendered with Redshift, then composited in After Effects.
